Most stores accept major credit cards. The type of credit card with only the magnetic strip used predominanltly in North America has almost disappeared in Europe. If your credit card does not have a built in micro-chip, certain stores will not be able to process it. The ATMs however will accept them and represent the cheapest way to convert your currency into Euro. Few places will accept travellers cheques and a lot of the banks are reticent to take them.
The most simple way is to load up your credit card account before leaving for your vacation to Guadeloupe and to withdraw what you need at ATMs in Guadeloupe. Our apartments and studios are equipped with personal safety deposit boxes for those who feel uneasy about holding a large amount of cash.
